DAILY 5
Students participate and choose their own centers each day during our literacy block. The centers are Listening, Computer, Word Work, Scholastic News, Writing, Read to Self, Buddy Read. The only centers that I choose for them are when they come to Reading Group and when they use the computers. They also have the choice of Unfinished Work if they have not completed something. They all have a Daily 5 folder they keep in their desk to keep their work in (finished or unfinished) until the end of the week when I collect it. The class knows that there are certain centers that MUST be complete by week's end and they need to be able to make the right choices when choosing their centers each day. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this.
